Every piece of art that has ever been created has some aspect of universal being one way or another. Regardless of its form, art always conveys a message that the creator wants us to see or hear. Even as simple as the artist capturing a beautiful view is enough for a viewer to connect with and reminisce on a common or similar experience sending them back down memory lane. COLOURS
Colour helps create an illusion of space on a blank canvas. We have trained our brains to associate colors to something we are familiar with in the real-life world. For example, we associate blue with water and sky and green with grass and nature. When we change the way these colors are used to not imitate what we see in the real world, we stop and stare for just a little longer. Because art is so expressive and limitless, a color play can help any piece of art stand out. All colors come from a color wheel where the spectrum ranges from cool to warm. It is important to consider the color wheel when creating art because certain colors may appear darker or lighter depending on what color it is placed next to. Side by side, colors that are close together on the wheel harmonize with each other, and complementary colors make artwork visually demanding. Strategic pairing is important and makes a difference in communicating with its audience.
TEXTURE
The texture an art piece gives off is important in making it stand out. Highlights, shadows, and other light elements all play a part in creating texture in art pieces. Whether it be a photo, painting, or sketch, you can create depth and texture by simply even just adjusting the shadows and highlights. The more texture the art piece gives off, the more depth will show creating the illusion of it being three-dimensional. Many oil paintings have thicker lumps of paint in certain areas giving it a 3d effect drawing lots of attention towards them. Making art more three-dimensional will help draw in your audience and capture their attention. Allowing people to feel like they are part of the artwork makes people that much more intrigued and more likely to connect with it.
