● This musical is an adaptation of a well-known book by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith. The story is based on the familiar story of “The Three Little Pigs,” but turns the pig community into the morally questionable villain. It might offer an opportunity to discuss ● The play contains some grisly carnivore humor about animals eating other animals. ● At the conclusion of the musical, the audience is asked to participate as jurors to decide for themselves whether or not Alexander T. Wolf is “guilty” of the crimes of which he is accused. Some younger children may want to be prepared for the fact that their ● If you are a big fan of The Beatles, pay special attention during the performance — there are references to their music sprinkled throughout the script and some of the costumes are even inspired by 1960s era clothing! | |||||||||
From Story to Stage ● This musical is based on the well-known children’s book The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs!, first published in 1989. It was created by the popular children’s book author/illustrator team of Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith. Their other books include The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales, Math Curse, and Science Verse. ● The book was adapted by Chicago-based playwright Robert Kauzlaric. Mr. Kauzlaric has also adapted Mo Willems’ Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed and Mr. Popper’s Penguins by Richard and Florence Atwater for the stage. ● The music was composed by Paul Gilvary and William Rush. Mr. Gilvary is a musician and music teacher in Chicago and Mr. Rush is a self-described “Rhythmic Sculptor” who studies music and the mystic arts! | |||||||||
A note about parking: | |||||||||
City of Omaha Parking meters are now active from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Metered parking spots will still be free on Sundays and holidays. Free parking is available in the Wells Fargo parking lot on the northwest corner of 20th & Farnam Streets on weekends and after 5:30 pm on weeknights. Parking is also now available for $2 in the parking garage at 19th & Harney, courtesy of the Omaha Douglas Public Building Commission. | |||||||||
