While it’s not the all-time record (this feat was accomplished in 2011 with almost 8 million Liters of beer consumed), it is about 1 million Liters more than last year. Most likely the perfect weather played a role, with all except one day being warm and sunny.

Of course it’s not just beer consumption that makes for some fascinating statistics of the 2023 Oktoberfest in Munich.

7.2 million visitors attended the 2023 Oktoberfest

According to official estimates by the city of Munich, 7.2 million guests (2022: 5.7 million) attended the Wiesn during the 18 days of festivities. Of these, around 480,000 visitors were counted at the Oidn Wiesn, the traditional festival grounds.

In addition to the millions of Bavarian locals who attended, there were again noticeably many international visitors at Oktoberfest in 2023, notably from the USA, Austria, France and Italy. The trend of wearing traditional clothing has continued, with the majority of visitors embracing Dirndls or Lederhosen.

Interestingly, the sale of non-alcoholic drinks increased by 50% over the previous year, most likely in part due to the unusually warm weather. Some tents reported running out of drinking water on some days.
